Doriene Marselje

Musician

Doriene Marselje started playing harp at a very young age. Her love for music and the devotion of her first harp teacher Lenie de Meij soon began to bear fruit, receiving the Young Talent Prize of the Gergiev Festival in Rotterdam at the age of seven.
In 1999 she was admitted to the Young Talent class at the Conservatory of Utrecht under the guidance of prof. Erika Waardenburg.
In 2009 she continued her studies with prof. Ernestine Stoop, obtaining her Bachelor degree in 2012 and her Master Degree in 2014 at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.

Doriene Marselje’s career as a soloist includes performances in some of the most prestigious concert halls in The Netherlands (including Muziekgebouw, De Doelen and Dr. Anton Philipszaal) and in various countries around Europe (Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Hungary, Ireland and UK). She has made frequent appearances on Dutch National TV and on NPO 4 radio channel.

In addition to her solo career, Doriene is a member and initiator of various chamber music ensembles, such as the 'Marselje Duo' with her sister and violinist Annelieke Marselje, ‘Gizmo Duo’ with flutist Ilonka Kolthof, the 'Aemstel Trio' with flutist Sarah Oukrat and violist Joël Waterman and on occasion she is a guest member of the RCO Camerata.

Doriene's endless curiosity and passion for music are driving her wide range of collaborations: She is involved in numerous multidisciplinary performances and is a member of the Kameroperahuis Collective, with whom she performs original musical theatre performances.
